Terms of use

Unganisha connects people who need blood with donors nearby who might be able to help. That is the whole service.

We do not collect, test, store, transport or sell blood, and we are not a blood bank. Every unit is collected, screened and issued by a licensed transfusion service. We never take custody of blood and never charge for it or for access to a donor.

Blood in Kenya is free. If anyone asks you to pay for blood, for a donor, or for a place in a queue, they are not acting for Unganisha. Please refuse and tell us.

• ✓We cannot guarantee blood is found — We alert compatible donors near the hospital. Whether anyone answers, and whether they are eligible on the day, is outside our control.
• ✓We are not a substitute for the hospital — Always ask the transfusion unit to pursue its own channels, including the Kenya National Blood Transfusion Service, at the same time. Never wait on us alone.
• ✓We give no medical advice — Eligibility to donate and the suitability of any unit are decided by clinical staff, never by this service.
• ✓Alerts depend on networks we do not run — Messages travel over mobile networks and push services. They are usually quick and occasionally are not.

• ✓You must be 18 or older — Kenyan donation rules start at 16, but registering a minor needs verifiable parental consent that we do not yet support, so for now the service is adults only.
• ✓Post only genuine requests — Every alert costs money and spends the goodwill of people who may travel across a city at night. A false request is the one thing that would break this for everyone.
• ✓Give accurate details — The hospital, blood group and deadline are what donors act on.
• ✓Do not use it to trade — No selling, buying or brokering blood, donors or places in a queue.
• ✓Do not misuse what you see — A shared request is for finding a donor. Do not scrape it, republish it, or contact people for anything else.

Your phone number is your account. Anyone with that number and the code we text can sign in, so keep the code to yourself — we will never ask you for it, and no one from Unganisha will ever phone to request it.

You can pause alerts or delete your account at any time. We may suspend an account that posts false requests or misuses donor goodwill.

What we store, what we deliberately do not, and who can see it is set out on our privacy page. In short: a donor's phone number is never revealed to anyone, and we hold no test results of any kind.

If we change these terms in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app rather than quietly updating this page.

These terms are governed by Kenyan law. The operating entity is [registered entity name — company registration in progress], and full contract, liability and dispute wording is [pending review by a Kenyan advocate]. Until that is complete, treat this page as a plain-language statement of intent rather than a finished contract.
